Innocent and Naive

Two things that people are born with: Innocence and naivety. Its maintained for a certain amount of time until people begin to experience the world, or people take away those traits. For me, I'm twenty-six years old and I've never experienced the world, nor have had people take away my innocence or naivety. Go ahead and call me Ms. Juliet Capulet or the Virgin Mary, but I've never understood why people do the things they do, say the things they say, think the way they think, believe what they believe. People could be younger or older than me, but I will not understand people. An adult whose mind is like a child''s mind feels weird because an adult is supposed to have the mind of an adult and a child is supposed to have a mind of a child. However, since I've arrived here, my mindset has stayed the same. People call this a gift from God; I want to believe it, but I wonder if its something I've done to myself. What I mean is, I run away from things that bother me. For example, I can't take it when I see someone dying or seeing someone holding someone else at gunpoint. Why people do those kinds of things, I do not understand why. People may understand that, but some people may not because they may think I prefer to live in a fantasy world where everyone and everything is good and happy in the world and nothing bad ever happens. They can go ahead and think that way, but they can also think about whether they would like to see people treat each other better than they do right now because God teaches us that to overcome evil is to overcome it with good.

  1. Some people have become desensitized to the pain and suffering in the world.
